When something's gone

Dropped over the side isn't the same as gone for good.

Shallow, dark, or silty water hides things fast — but a methodical search by a trained diver recovers more than people expect.

i.

Acted on quickly

The sooner we search, the less a dropped item drifts, sinks into silt, or gets buried. Call as soon as it happens.

ii.

A real search pattern

We work a deliberate grid rather than a random look-around, covering the bottom carefully and systematically.

iii.

Careful on the bottom

Searches are run to disturb as little silt as possible, which protects both visibility and the item.

iv.

Honest about the odds

Some things come back; some don't. We'll give you a straight read on the chances before and after the dive.

Commonly recovered

A sample of what comes back up.

  • Phones & keys dropped from docks, decks, and dinghies.
  • Propellers & gear spun-off props, tools, and hardware.
  • Sunglasses & jewelry rings, watches, and eyewear over the side.
  • Electronics handhelds, cameras, and tackle.
  • Anchors & lines fouled or lost ground tackle.
  • Personal items if it went down at a dock or anchorage, ask.

How it works

A careful search beats a lucky one.

Underwater search and recovery is exactly what it sounds like — a diver going down to find and bring back something that went over the side. The difference between getting it back and not usually comes down to two things: how fast the search happens, and how methodical it is.

We start with where and when the item went in, the depth, and the bottom type — sand, mud, grass, or silt all change the approach. Then we work a deliberate search pattern across the area rather than swimming around hoping to spot it, disturbing as little of the bottom as possible so we don't bury what we're looking for or kill the visibility.

We'll always give you an honest read on the odds. Recovery is never guaranteed — but a trained, systematic search recovers far more than a frantic one, and far more than leaving it on the bottom.

Search & recovery FAQ

What people ask when something goes down.

Straight answers on odds, timing, and what we find.

How soon should I call after something goes overboard?
As soon as possible. The longer an item sits, the more it can drift, settle into silt, or get buried. A fast search has dramatically better odds than one days later.
Can you really find something in murky water?
Often, yes. A methodical grid search by a trained diver doesn't rely on seeing the item from a distance — it relies on covering the bottom systematically. Low visibility makes it harder, not impossible.
What kinds of things do you recover?
Phones, keys, propellers, tools, sunglasses, jewelry, electronics, anchors, and other gear lost at docks, marinas, and anchorages.
Is recovery guaranteed?
No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Some items can't be found or have moved too far. We'll give you an honest read on the chances before we dive and after.
Where do you perform searches?
Throughout Pinellas County — private docks, marinas, and anchorages. Tell us the location and we'll tell you if it's something we can work.
Do you document the recovery?
Where it makes sense, yes — a photo of the find and the location, so there's a record of what was recovered.
