Boat Owner Guide

Do Tampa Bay marinas require proof of diver insurance?

Short answer: Many do. It’s common for Tampa Bay marinas to require a diver to carry liability insurance and provide a certificate before working in their basin. Misting Monsoon is licensed and insured and can provide documentation — though requirements vary, so check with your marina.

Marinas set their own rules, and insurance is one of the most common. Knowing this ahead of time keeps your service smooth and keeps you on good terms with your dockmaster.

Why marinas ask

A marina is responsible for what happens in its waters. Requiring vendors to carry liability insurance protects the marina, its other tenants, and you if something were ever to go wrong. It’s a sign of a well-run facility — and a reason to work only with divers who carry proper coverage. A diver who can’t produce a certificate is a risk you don’t need to take.

What this means for you

  • Hiring an insured diver means there’s never a paperwork hold-up at your marina.
  • A certificate of insurance (COI) can usually be sent straight to the marina office on request.
  • You’re protected too, because proper coverage stands behind the work on your boat.

How we handle it

Because requirements differ from one marina to the next, the simplest path is to tell us where your boat is kept. We’re licensed and insured, and we can provide documentation to your marina before the first dive — so the only thing you have to think about is having a clean boat. When in doubt, a quick call to your marina office confirms exactly what they need.
